Dental and Vision Plan for Post-65 Retirees

Post-65 Retiree Open Enrollment for Calendar Year 2025: Nov. 4 - Dec. 4, 2024

The open enrollment period is your opportunity to review your benefit options and change your current elections. No action is required unless you are making changes, opting in for the first time, or opting out of coverage.

You are encouraged to review the 2025 Post-65 Retiree Health Care Plans Summary Guide, for detailed information about the available medical, dental, and vision plans; information about the Defined Dollar Benefit (DDB) program; enrollment information, contact information; and more.

Interested in learning more about your post-65 retiree benefits? We recently held a webinar to review what's new in calendar year 2025.

Questions about your benefits as a post-65 retiree or about the enrollment period should be directed to Benefit Management Services (BMS) by emailing PITT-BMSdocs@upmc.edu or by calling 1-888-499-6885. BMS hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dental and Vision Plans and Cost Schedules

University-sponsored plans for post-65 dental and vision coverage are available separately. When assessing your needs for dental and vision services, keep in mind that the Medicare Advantage HMOs and PPOs may provide limited benefits for dental and vision care services. DDB credits cannot be used to cover the cost of the dental plan or vision plan.

Dental and Vision Plans and Cost Schedules

Dental Plan

The active dental plans discontinue at age 65. However, United Concordia offers the Concordia Access Dental Plan to individuals 65 and older. This plan focuses on Diagnostic and Preventive Services as well as Basic Services. Members received reduced discounted fees on Major Services and Orthodontics.

Vision Plan

Retirees at age 65 are eligible to participate in a Davis Vision by MetLife Option Plan, which is similar to the pre-65 Fashion plan/active plan.

Important Note: In 2023, the name of the University’s vision insurance changed from Davis Vision to Davis Vision by MetLife. While the coverage itself did not change, the name of the insurance company changed. When seeking vision services through a provider, please ensure that you are providing the full name of “Davis Vision by MetLife” on any forms and/or to the provider’s office upon checking in for your appointment.
