Dental and Vision Plans for Pre-65 Retirees

Post-65 Retiree Open Enrollment for Calendar Year 2025: Nov. 4 - Dec. 4, 2024

The open enrollment period is your opportunity to review your benefit options and change your current elections. No action is required unless you are making changes, opting in for the first time, or opting out of coverage.

You are encouraged to review the 2025 Post-65 Retiree Health Care Plans Summary Guide, for detailed information about the available medical, dental, and vision plans; information about the Defined Dollar Benefit (DDB) program; enrollment information, contact information; and more.

Questions about your benefits as a post-65 retiree or about the enrollment period should be directed to Benefit Management Services (BMS) by emailing PITT-BMSdocs@upmc.edu or by calling 1-888-499-6885. BMS hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dental Plans

The retiree dental plans, like the medical plans, are identical for retirees prior to age 65. The active dental plans discontinue at age 65. However, United Concordia offers the Concordia Access II Dental Plan starting at age 65. Learn more about the available dental plans for Post-65 coverage.

As an active faculty and staff member, the group program is considered a “voluntary plan”. Through the high level of participation in the dental plans, the University is able to obtain attractive group rates. Faculty and staff are responsible for the full cost of the coverage. As a result, if you continue with dental coverage up to age 65, the premiums are the same as those incurred by active faculty and staff.

As a reminder, the dental plans offered through United Concordia to eligible spouses/domestic partners prior to age 65 are:

  • Concordia Plus Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO)
  • Concordia Flex I
  • Concordia Flex II

Vision Plans

The retiree vision plans, like the dental plans, are identical for retirees prior to age 65.

As an active faculty and staff member, the group program is considered a “voluntary plan”. Through the high level of participation in the vision plans, the University is able to obtain attractive group rates. Faculty and staff are responsible for the full cost of the coverage. As a result, if you continue with vision coverage up to age 65, the premiums are the same as those incurred by active faculty and staff.

As a reminder, the vision plans offered through Davis Vision to eligible spouses/domestic partners prior to age 65 are:

  • Fashion Excellence Plan
  • Designer Gold Plan
