In an email to employees from University leadership, the University of Pittsburgh has announced an immediate hiring freeze, including a system pause from March 10 through March 23, with a more formalized process to be implemented from March 24 through the end of the fiscal year, and possibly beyond.

The Office of Human Resources has released a guidance document, as well as some Frequently Asked Questions to provide assistance for those involved in the hiring process. Those with additional questions should submit an online inquiry, selecting “2025 Hiring Freeze” under the available dropdown boxes.
