Additional Information

Who can attend these biometric screenings?

These screenings are offered by UPMC Health Plan and are available to all faculty and staff who have UPMC Health Plan coverage through the University (Panther Gold, Panther Advocate, Panther Plus, and Panther Basic).

What if I cannot attend one of the on-site biometric screening events?

If you are unable to attend an on-site event, you can schedule a screening online at a Quest Patient Service Center. Remember to use code Pitt2018 when scheduling (this code is valid for the benefit year July 2018 - June 2019).

Do I receive a health incentive for participating?

Yes, the biometric screening is part of the Wellness for Life program. You can earn up to $125 on your Health Incentive Account for a biometric screening. You can only receive a credit for this activity once per benefit year.

I received a biometric screening in fall 2017 and/or spring 2018. Am I able to get another one?

Yes, you can do more than one biometric screening if you wish to see if your numbers have changed or improved.

Am I able to receive the health incentive credit again if I already received it from doing a biometric screening in spring 2018?

Wellness for Life health incentive credit is only given once per activity per benefit year. Benefit years run from June through July. Since a new benefit year began on July 1, you would receive health incentive credit again for attending a biometric screening in fall 2018.

What are the other wellness activities that I can complete to receive credit to my Health Incentive Account?

Review the Wellness Incentives page to see a full list of wellness activities and their associated reward amounts for the 2018-2019 benefit year.

I have additional questions about my benefits and coverage and/or my Wellness for Life Health Incentive Account.

Questions can be directed to the Office of Human Resources Benefits Department by calling 412-624-8160, by emailing hr-benque@pitt.edu, or by filling out this form.

*It is recommended that you fast for 12 hours before your screening (except if you are pregnant). No food or beverages, except water. If you take medication, continue to take it. The blood test is a simple fingerstick test.
