Pitt Benefits Department recognized with industry award

The Office of Human Resources is proud to announce that our Benefits Department was recently awarded a 2024 Eddy Award from Pension & Investments, an important industry trade magazine.

OHR Vice Chancellor James Gallaher and Director of Benefits Melissa Kluchorosky show the 2024 Eddy Award that the University receivedThe University of Pittsburgh's Benefits Department received the third place Eddy Award in the Special Projects, Not For Profit/Other with more than 5,000 participants category, for our work, along with plan record-keeper, TIAA, communicating to employees about last year's transition to new target-date fund investment models (Panther Target Date Fund/RetirePlus) within our retirement savings plan portfolio.

"It's always great to be recognized by the industry for our work to promote and deliver retirement security for Pitt employees through our excellent pension plans, especially through our generous matching program," said Office of Human Resources Vice Chancellor James Gallaher. "We're very proud of the work our Benefits Department does day in and day out to maintain and enhance all our employee benefit programs."

Benefits Department Director Melissa Kluchorosky attended the recent Pension & Investments conference, where she appeared as a panelist in a workshop on Innovative Retirement Income Solutions for a Secure Future and received the Eddy Award on the University's behalf.

"I was honored to accept this award on behalf of our Benefits team and the Office of Human Resources," she said. "We work regularly with our partners at TIAA to ensure that we're not only offering the best pension options for employees, but ensuring they know how to best maximize their retirement savings for the future. We were proud to be recognized for our collective efforts."

This is the University's second Eddy Award received within the past five years. Kudos to the Benefits Department and everyone involved who worked on this award-winning project!
