Looking to get more active? Swing for the fences and join UPMC for Home Run for Health!
Home Run for Health is a nine-week fitness challenge (like the nine regular innings in a baseball game!) that promotes daily physical activity. The challenge is open to all University faculty and staff with UPMC Health Plan coverage. Set activity goals based on your own fitness objectives. Maybe you want to hit 10,000 steps walked per week, or maybe you want to hit 70,000! The choice is yours. Enter your goal when you register and keep track of your weekly progress by logging into the Home Run for Health section of your UPMC MyHealth Online account throughout the duration of the challenge. The more active you are, the more "home runs" you can earn. All participants will be eligible to win a raffle prize at the end of the challenge!
Challenge Dates
Registration: May 21 - June 8, 2018
Challenge: June 11 - August 13, 2018
How to Register
Register for Home Run for Health by logging in to my.pitt.edu. Then select My Resources > Human Resources > MyHealth Access. Once in your MyHealth Online account, select "Home Run for Health" in the left-side menu.
How does the challenge work?
The challenge runs for nine weeks (or, nine innings). You will be able to access the Home Run for Health website through your MyHealth Online account (via my.pitt.edu) starting on June 11. Once there, you can manually log your activity, connect your wearable activity tracker, set a weekly goal, see how many home runs you have scored, check your progress towards your next home run, and get helpful tips on how to become more physically active.
You can keep track of your progress on the Home Run for Health website. If you do that three times a week throughout the challenge, you'll earn "Completer" status. Meet your goal for the week and earn a "home run" by being active! For example, if you set a weekly goal of 10,000 steps, you do not need to reach that many steps in a single day. You hit a home run when you reach 10,000 steps within a single week (or inning). So, if you walk 7,000 steps on Monday, as soon as you take your 3,000th step on Tuesday, you cross the plate for a home run! For every 10,000 steps you take during each week, you earn a home run. More than just meeting your goal, aim to rack up as many "home runs" as you can each week! The tracker resets every Sunday evening throughout the duration of the challenge, and you will begin working again towards your 10,000 step goal for the week on Monday.
