Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual wellness is embracing new ideas, connecting and learning with others, and always looking for ways to continue educating ourselves. Pitt encourages all faculty, staff, and students to explore additional resources outside of the classroom and office that can help you expand your knowledge. Our Learning and Development courses for employees, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for retirees, and extensive University Library System for students ensure that no matter what stage of life you're in, there's always an opportunity to keep learning.

Intellectual Wellness Resources

Learning & Development: Organization Development and the Learning & Development program provide many opportunities for faculty and staff to continue learning outside of the office. Certificates for managers, workshops for supervisors and employees, and leadership instruction for departments are available throughout the year. Courses for the Faculty & Staff Development Program (FSDP) are offered in the fall and spring terms of each year.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute: Courses, lectures, informal discussions, tours, day trips, and travel provide outlets for learning and enjoyment for retirees who are looking for ways to expand their knowledge and have fun.

Lunch and Learn Series: Pitt's Lunch and Learn series are available throughout the year for faculty and staff who wish to learn more about health and fitness topics. Learning sessions go over wellness subjects such as how to take care of your mental health, how to cope with stress, and how to stay healthy over the holiday season.

Additional Resources

In addition to Learning & Development programs, Pitt offers resources on campus and online for those who are interested in learning on their own, including the University Library System for research-related workshops, the College of General Studies (CGS), and online learning with Lynda.com.

Education benefits are also available through Pitt's benefits programs and give faculty and staff the opportunity to receive an undergraduate or graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Education benefits for faculty and staff, as well as dependents, spouses, and domestic partners, at Pitt and elsewhere can be found on the Benefits homepage.
